Today a number of schools across Oldham celebrated the life of Oldham born suffragette Annie Kenney.
I popped along to my neighbouring constituency in Oldham East & Saddleworth to visit a special march and performance outside Lees Brook Mill which is home to a plaque remembering Annie.
The young people from St Thomas Leesfield were absolutely brilliant in telling the story of the struggle for equal rights and the power of standing up for what you believe in.
The work which must have gone into the performance, banners and costumes (right down to the clogs) was inspiring.
Events were also held at Oasis Limeside and Failsworth School and many others.
We are well on the way to realising our ambition to see a statue of Annie outside Oldham's Old Town Hall and its things like this which make you realise just how important it is.
